-The Second Dimension- Personality: He is single-minded and tenacious. He seems to feel the need to be the avenger for his clan and brother and to do whatever it takes to do so. He doesn't show his emotions much nor let them control his actions in battle. He feels superior to others and tends to be indifferent. Academy; While in the academy Sasuke was viewed as the prodigy. His teacher at the time was Umino Iruka. Sasuke had trained long and hard to become the avenger for his family, as he was the only survivor besides Itachi. When the final graduation exams came around he breezed through them with ease. He was placed into Squad seven with Haruno Sakura and Uzamaki Naruto, Hatake Kakashi being the Jonin leading the squad.
Genin; The first thing Kakashi had the squad do for training was to snatch two bells. Whoever didn't get a bell would be sent back to the academy. The point of this was to strengthen their teamwork. At first Sasuke had seen this as a way to prove himself above Sakura and Naruto, but in the end all three learned that if they didn't work together not a single one of them would get any of the bells.
His first mission was a very minor, low ranked one; to capture a lost cat, which the squad had done successfully. His second, however, was classified as C rank, but rather turned into an A rank mission. The mission was to escort master bridge builder Tazuna to the Land Of Waves to build a great bridge that would save the village from it's state of poverty. Near the start of the mission they had encountered two very skilled shinobi of whom were covered in poison. Those two were the Demon Brothers. When they asked Tazuna why the shinobi attacking them weren't ordinary they learned the truth of the mission, that a rich man Gato was trying to get rid of Tazuna at all costs. Not too far along Zabuza had ambushed them as part of Tazuna's ploy. Kakashi had fought Zabuza first, but when he became trapped it was left to Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura. Sasuke and Naruto worked together and planned an attack on Zabuza. Kakashi was soon freed. Near the end of their battle Haku had first appeared and pretended to finish off Zabuza. He pretended to be a Tracking-nin, as to be able to take Zabuza's still alive, but temporarily 'dead', body away.
The group had reached Tazuna's home, where Kakashi was to recuperate. They thought it odd for Zabuza to be killed so easily and pieced it together that he wasn't really dead. Kakashi had taught the group how to climb trees by focusing their Chakra on their feet. Sakura was, surprisingly, the first to master it. Sasuke and Naruto competed to see who would get farther. Sasuke managed to do better than Naruto for a while.
When Tazuna resumed work on the bridge, with Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi as his body guards, Zabuza and Haku returned and attacked once more. It was in this battle that Sasuke had gained the Kekkai Genkai of the Uchiha Clan, Sharingan. With his Sharingan he managed to be a match for Haku. Soon Haku used his Kekkai Genkai, Crystal Ice Mirrors, Naruto had entered the battle. Naruto used his Shadow Clones in an attempt to get the upperhand, but failed. Sasuke played the martyr and protected Naruto in one of Haku's attacks. Luckily, Sasuke was only in a temporary stat of death, which is what Haku had only meant to put Naruto in. On the other side Kakashi was about to finish off Zabuza with his Chidori Lightning Blade. Haku, too, played Martyr, but, unlike Sasuke, was killed.
Nearing the end of the battle Gato had appeared along with his gang. Gato tells them he wasn't going to pay Zabuza in the end. Zabuza, after his thoughts being changed by Naruto, kills Gato. In the end, Zabuza dies beside Haku and the two are buried side by side
Squad 7 Returns just in time for the Chuunin Exams. Kakashi deems them able enough for the exams and allows them to enter. When the trio, Sakura, Sasuke, and Naruto, go to enter the exams they have their first encounter with Rock Lee. Rock Lee challenges Sasuke to a fight. Sasuke uses his Sharingan and develops his own version of Rock Lee's Leaf Barrage, which he call's Lion's Barrage. Might Guy, Rock Lee's squad leader, intervenes and stops the fight before Rock Lee uses his Primary Lotus.
The first part of the Chuunin Exams is a written test. The purpose of this test was to test each of them for the ability to cheat. If they could cheat without getting caught it showed their creativity and 'stealth'. Sasuke used his Sharingan to copy another Genin that sat in front of him.
The second part of the Chuunin Exams took place in the Forest of Death. The objective was to gain the other scroll and reach the tower. The squad made their way through the forest, getting into a few fights until they came across Orochimaru in disguise. Naruto gave Sasuke encouragement to keep fighting Orochimaru, even though he stood little chance. When in the fight against Orochimaru, Sasuke was bitten on the neck by Orochimaru. The bite was really the Cursed Seal of Heaven, Orochimaru's way of "dying him his own colour". The Cursed Seal caused him to black out while having 'flashbacks' of his family and their death, all the fault of it being pointed at him. When he came to he found Naruto unconscious and Sakura hurt.When he learned who did this to them he beat them up with the power of the curse mark for the first time, not realizing he was using it-or that it had existed.
The third round was a battle royal against all those who made it out. Since there was so many who made it hey had to hold a preliminary round. From squad 7 only Naruto and Sasuke had gone over to the final round, both winning their matches.
Sasuke had trained with Kakashi for the upcoming finals. Sasuke was late to the finals, so late it was almost an automatic forfeit, because of this. When he did fight, however, it was against Gaara of the Sand. With increased speed and a better ability in taijutsu he fought all out against Gaara. He even used the technique Kakashi had taught him, Chidori. Orochimaru launched an attack on Konohagakure beforethe match could finish.
Sasuke chased after Gaara, as instructed to do, when he fled with Temari and Kankuro. When Sasuke and Gaara had fought again he had used his chidori one more time, wich brought him to his limit of using chidori only twice. He fought until Gaara had rendered him unable to continue. Luckily, Naruto and Sakura had shown up just in time.
Not too long after he returned from the fight with Gaara the Sound Four attacked. They invited Sasuke to go with them and join Orochimaru to gain the power to defeat Itachi. Sasuke accepted and snuck out of the village to join them. A genin team was sent to 'rescue' him when news of his leave spread. The team was the shinobi Naruto, Kiba Inuzuka, Neji Hyuga, Choji Akimichi, and Shikamaru Nara.
Naruto was the one to reach Sasuke and was going to bring him back by force. The more of the first half of the fight was in Sasuke's hands, Naruto not fairing well against him. The instant Naruto's Kyuubi created it's sheild, however, Sasuke was the one 'not fairing well' and was forced to use level two of his cursed seal. Sasuke knew he would have to kill Naruto, his best friend, to gain Mangekyou Sharingan.
The last move was Sasuke using his Chidori and Naruto using the Rasengan. When the two clashed a dark, black dome formed around the two. Sasuke punched Naruto rather than killing him, not wanting to give into Itachi's ways. This rendered Naruto unconscious and therefore Sasuke was the victor, of whom left for Orochimaru, leaving behind his headband.
